December 2, 2018

Here's what we hear from Matthew this past week:

"This week has been good. Elder Hodgson is a great missionary, he is funny and kind. We are keeping the car so that's really nice, especially since everyone says that the rain will be coming. Thanksgiving was amazing, we had chicken, but Brother Schilling prepared it like a Turkey, stuffed it and cooked it in it's own juices etc. He actually cooked 2 so that he could send one home with us. He made amazing potatoes with chives and a sort of bacon sausage that was delicious. It was a great dinner. So as far as my knowledge goes, the missionaries do the same thing for Light the World as everyone else. This year is pretty cool with the 4 themes and I look forward to being a part of it. So there have been a lot of lights going up recently, but it's more in the house area than in the apartments, but that's to be expected because I don't think we are really allowed to decorate the outside of the apartment. I do like the sweaters, the one in the picture however was from Elder Worthington. He was funny on the last day he was here and just started to throw things he didn't like at me, it's a 100% wool sweater so it's really nice for the wet days. As for the scripture this week. I think that 2 Nephi 25:17 is a good scripture this week, not because it has any special meaning but because it was one that I liked when I read it. "And the Lord will set his hand again the second time to restore his people from their lost and fallen state. Wherefore, he will proceed to do a marvelous work and a wonder among the children of men." And just keep praying that we will continue to keep the car.

Elder Harding"

As of today, Matthew has been in on his mission for 75 days, and he has reached double digits for his service percentage (10%).  It's funny how we can track the craziest things when it comes to his mission :)

The also got his plaque up at the church with his picture today.  This isn't a great picture of it, but it's there :)

We also heard during our back and forth conversations on Monday that they are talking with several friends in the area now.  And that he enjoys days that are busier.  He is really enjoying the Seattle area and says it is really green, and that there are a lot of hills there.

It is a great thing that he is enjoying his mission and learning and loving the people there.
